About the artist

Jamin Krine

From a young age I was interested in art and would draw, paint, or build whenever possible. I dreamed of one day becoming an animator and working for a company such as Disney. At one stage I lived across from an animator who worked on popular Australian cartoon TV shows. From him I got a small sneak peak at the art industry and my desire to work as an artist grew.

During my high school years I excelled in art subjects and learnt invaluable lessons that would, in time, influence and improve my art. However, my dream of becoming an animator changed when I discovered drafting and architecture. I ended up deciding that I wanted to be a landscape architect. In pursuit of this profession, I took advice from a landscape architect to start off my career by staring at the ground floor as a landscaper. For approximately 4 years I worked as a landscape apprentice and had the privilege of seeing landscape designs come to life in ways I could never imagine. During these 4 years, I lost focus on my goals of becoming a landscape architect and my passion for art took a backseat to the daily grind.

After leaving the horticulture industry, I changed jobs a few more times until, in early 2015, I picked up a pencil and attempted to draw something that I had always struggled with: portraiture. After a couple hours of drawing, I had completed a portrait that surprised me by how much my artistic ability had improved; not only was this my first portrait that actually looked somewhat like my subject, but the level of detail I managed to work in to the drawing was eye opening for me. Looking back at this drawing, I can see just how awful it was, but it nonetheless showed me that I could achieve my dream of becoming an artist. This reignited my passion for art and I was forever taking drawing requests from friends and family. From animals to cartoon characters and more portraits, I slowly began to see my skills improve. With each drawing I would try to learn something different. By watching and learning from Youtube and Facebook artists, I was able to develop techniques that enabled me to overcome obstacles to creating what I had envisioned in my mind.

Mid-2015 saw the creation of Vision Art as a way for me to showcase my artwork. Getting my artwork seen by more and more people through the online presence of Vision Art has been key to the continued improvement of my art.

In 2016 I moved to Brisbane to be with my beautiful partner Michelle, who is now an integral part of Vision Art. With the assistance and support of Michelle and her family, 2016 proved to be an amazing year. A couple highlights of the year include: starting to taking commissions, and having artwork displayed in Mitchelton State School.

As 2017 starts, I have even more planned to make Vision Art the realisation of my dream of becoming a recognised artist.
